I have a small journal 1100's crank that I just pulled out of a motor that was running but over due for a rebuild. How much is the going price for crack testing and machineing?
It is currently .010 under size on mains and big ends but I think it may need to go .020 as there are a couple of marks. Is it OK to go .020 on these cranks?
Also a quick one on thrust washers, it had a set of .030 over on the front side (balancer end) and a standard size set on the other side (clutch end) is this normal or should they be the size on both sides?
Thanks in advance.
Pete

St George Crankshafts, in Bearing Rd Seven Hills.
Right outside CB Performance Engines shop.
Sorry I don't have the number...

Deluxe_68, you probably had an 1100S crank in an S block, there is 1/32" difference in centre main journal width.
Don't throw those +.030" washers away, they are NLA now unless you get somebody to make `em up special.

re the journal sizes, yes .020"/.020" is fine.

Doc, yes it is a 1100's crank in a 'S' block.

Are the thrust washers supposed to be the same both side or does it not matter?
Pete

Well I usually make them equal, but provided it clears OK 30 on one side works OK.
I'd put the thick one towards flywheel end, but it really won't matter.
