Post subject:  Help with GR's advice???

Gday everyone

My mini's engine is at the moment being done by a mini pro here in Perth.

We opted to try G.Rs advice that he'd written in the Mini experience. his arcticle was about building small bore engnies and getting good power for alot less money than a 1275 rebuild.

The problem my mechanic encounted was with the 998 pistons into the 1100 engine.
Graham Suggested, using a standard 998 piston and shaving an amount off the crown, to produce an "economical" flat top. i forget how much is to be taken off the top.

We did this, and were left with a piston that may not last longer than 3 months. there just wasnt enough metal left on the top.

Can anyone suggest the Pistons he may use??

Was there a numerical error in the write up??

The pistons Graham uses have a pretty thick top, but not all 998 pistons are made like that.
I think he used Hypatecs.
Why not call him to check, (02) 9630 2195.
