Now I've often heard about brake MC's used for the clutch and being smaller bore giving a slipping clutch, but what about clutch Mcs used for the brakes? Just took off my old tin type MC and realised it was a clutch one (with the bottom mounting plate in the 5 o'clock to 10 o'clock position the filler cap on it is at the 2 o'clock position). What problems might one expect from running a clutch mc for the brakes?

And also whats the difference betweent he single and the double sealing band tin MC's?

Mike,
Clutch MC is 0.750" bore (or should be)- if used for brakes the pedal will be heavier to push. The standard brake one is 0.700" bore so gets more psi into the fluid for a given pedal effort.
Provided you use a servo with your S brakes, no problem- but otherwise I'd fit a proper 0.700" one.

ps. how's the car's body now... all fixed???

Thanks doc - yea I had a booster installed but then removed it and it always bothered me that my brake Mc was actualy a clutch one - but now all fixed.

the car - new paintjob, new engine, new gearbox but still there are problems - I'm going over there on Wed. for the painter to finish the job properly. I might drop by and tell you all about it then if its ok?
