Hi, just wondering what these are?? the stick bit, i know the round things are the things that the wheels go on..

i anyone has one lying around and dont want it i would be so grateful if you would sell it to me, if you live in sydney area ill pick it up not ill pay for postage.. thank you so much :)

Okay - only had one sister and she learnt boy talk.

The axles - as pointed out come in three types. If you have a clubman then it most probably has the pot joint type - two black steel cylinders with six grooves on the inside.

The disk brake assembly you have is off a Cooper S and will not fit. However, all is not lost.
The axles fit into the constant velocity joint that is next to the disck brake assay. ALL axles are interchangable. Your original clubbie axles will fit into the disck brake assay.

Take your old brake assays - both clubbie and cooper types - to a brake or suspension place and ask them to change the axles over. They do just bang off but proper mechanics have a tool that makes it just that much easier.

Then just reassemble making sure thatr all the six balls on each side fit properly into the black cylinder thingo sticking out of the gearbox on each side

lol, im sorry to have stolen your photo '2 S's & a clubman' i saw it and i thought oh my gosh thats what i need, id been looking on google but when i typed the "stick thingy that atatches to the motor and the wheel" It didnt come up with anything remotely what i was looking for.....

well i only need 1 drive shaft because i have 2 clubmans a yellow one which was a rolling shell with the motor and the front sub frame apart from it.. then i got the one i have now and needed the motor but the sub frame was already on this car, therefore i had to get the motor off the subframe in order to sell the yellow car with its subframe... so i have to take the push rod ends out of the subframe and the motor and one went with the guy that bought the yellow mini, i didnt realise till now and i sold it about 6 months ago.. so that was a bugger..

maybe if i get 2 off you then i can chuck mine, save the hassle if mine isnt going to go with the one i buy..

and i need a clubman one, ill take a photo of the one that i have.. are they supposed to match??

thanks for your help guys.. its my first project car and ive done it all myself and need all the help i can get..

See the ball bearings on the end?
That means it is a "Pot type" (standard on most clubbies).
Also one of the most durable types :)

Okay the one in the photo is a pot joint type. They come in two lengths. A short obne and a longer one. Both the short one and the long one are needed on any mini.

There is a difference between the diameter of the splines of the constant velocity joint (CVJ) where it bolts to the "round thingy that the wheels bolt to". This is the difference between CVJ's disk brakes and drum brakes. The disk brakes have a much larger spline.

Either way - as I said earlier all axles can be changed from CVJ to another type of CVJ. I do have axles (with CVJ) to suit clubbie drum brakes but not for disk brakes.

now :D that looks like a clean job. :D Maybe that is the original grease by the looks...

you have the CV (Constant Velocity Joint) Type. They look like ball bearings packed in grease but they are solid (not like their rotating bearing mates)

from memory one is a bit longer than the other as it has further to go from the gearbox to the wheel.

These shaft's are in 3 pieces
-THE SHAFT- just the solid metal bar
-The CV'S x2 an inner and outer CV joint

the outer end is the end you bolt to the wheel with the tread and splines on it and the inner is the one that goes into the gearbox.

the outers are different for drum and disk brakes. i.e: drum brakes go with drum CV, disk brakes go with disk CV's

the inner CV's are all the same from memory.

P.S. do yourself a favour and grab a workshop manual (Hayes brand if possible) you will find it the best resource to DIY keeping your mini on the road, and yourself safe
