hi people
i recently brought my first mini. i was so excited :D . but now not so excited
why because i dont know what the hell i have. I was told it was a '68 morris deluxe.but nothing seems to match anything.
all the details i could find on the car are what was on the plate on the firewall which was:
type:yma25 or s (cant make out) 2
Car no: 1964 this matches the number stamped into the firewall if that means anything
engine no: 9ya/t /h 2700
and colour toca white.

but thew engine in it was an 850 i think with the number 8yu /h4277
any help in figuring out what it is would be much appreciated :D

That all seems right to me mate. But you are right an 850 engine has been fitted, No big deal!!!.

Why would you be pissed... What is the problem

YMA2S2 Morris Mini Deluxe ...
Some fuz has but an 850 in it.....and removed the 998 engine, thats what you would expect from a car of 40yrs.

Yeah I agree, it's just had an 850 motor fitted it's no big deal. Judging by the numbers you gave it's about a 1965 car though?

I would also guess that it is a 1965 Deluxe.
Toga White was used on Deluxes in 65/66.
The prefix would be YMA2S2 which is a Deluxe (It is the 2 on the end that means deluxe) The number on the plate should match the firewall.
Car number 1964 means it is the 1464th deluxe built. (the numbers start at 501) and the Deluxe started in 1965.

The car should not have the protector shields for the hydro pipes like the later cars have.

You need a 998 with a 3 synchro, 4 speed remote change gearbox if you want to go back to original spec. For sale section is your best bet or put up a wanted post in the wanted section.

Lots of people will have 998 blocks and heads as they are common in other models but the gearbox will be rarer. PM me if you have trouble finding one, I actually have one here
