Ok is there some trick in getting the calliper piston back into the bore once a new seal has been fitted?? : ![]() ![]() I went by the book but used lithium grease instead of brake fluid to lube the new seal et all with but no matter how hard I tried to get the piston in it wouldn't go!!. Ended up ruining the seal so now I up for another calliper repair kit... ![]() ![]() TT |

I have rebuilt a set of metro calipers where the pistons are smaller (less effort for fitting), however heres what I did: 1. Get some rubber grease from a brake place or the likes. 2. Cover the fluid seal in grease all over and fit to caliper, and do the same with the dust seal and its retaner. 3. Cover the piston in the rubber grease, the more there is the easier the job, and push into the calliper. I was able to fit the pistons by hand, but a G-clamp would be of use too. Just make sure you clamp the middle of the piston so it remains square to the bore. Good luck. ![]() |

If you've got this stuff in there I'd wash it all away with methylated spirits first. Use rubber grease as suggested, or lube them up with clean brake fluid. |
