Love this Mini maythem....at the Dufor Dogleg....the guy in the Blue Mini looks like he has thrown the door open and is ready to jump out and thump the other fella.

I think the red Mini may be Ian Stewarts car being peddled by the previous owner....QLD'r??

You could be right on the mustang colours - I am trying to think of the name of the person who had a quick sucession of App J cars - chevy Nova, Cortina and finally ran a toyota at bathurst for a few years - came to me Marc Ducquet

Yes Bob Tweedie - myself, Max Stahl, Mike Dyer and a few others sat with him on the App J committee and we had many raised voice discussions with him. He was fairly dedicated at getting his own way.

Yep - that's the dates - on the long weekend....

Hopefully have the gearbox rebuilt and fitted in time :? ..... ready for my second foray into the world of historic Nb.... hopefully won't end up like the picture !!

Did my CAMS license there - so hope that will help with familiarity ... but that was in a Subaru - a bit different to the mini - and I'm sure we did the back loop the wrong way...

Should be fun.... :D

Ken.

I'm out there on the 8th to give my car it's first track run so no doubt there will be a few historic minis to compare it to.

Has there been a proper mini run organised for this event to spectate? a few of us went did this a coupld of years ago and set up camp on the far side of the tracka nd had a great day.

Hi Mick,

That red Mini would most likely be Ian Stewart.

Ian transferred this log book over to his name on 28/1/1983. How do I know this? Because it is the car the I race in Group N now!

I have the original log book as issued by Cams in 1980. The original owner was Jack Lacey from Queensland. The log book lists Ian racing the car at Oran Park six times in 1983. His colours were always Red with a black roof as far as I know.

The car has been raced continuously from 1980 until now except for six years between 1988 and 1994 when the car was hillclimbed around the Canberra area.

I believe the shell has been replaced. It looks to be an early 850 shell on the car now and I believe it was originally a genuine Austin Cooper S. Ian made mention in The Mini Experience that he still has a geniune shell which may be from this car. It would be interesting to find out the history before 1980 as Jack Lacey raced Mini's in the early 1970's. (maybe before??).

Does anyone remember an Austin Cooper S registered in Queensland SIO 71 ??
