Ok i know it has probably been asked elsewhere before, and i did search ![]() i got the input shaft circlip out using borrowed circlip pliers of almost the correct size, but i need some advice on method or tools to "withdraw the bearing" which the good book says is done with "special tool 18G284 and adapters 18G284B". I am assuming this is some kind of bearing puller. normally i would just find some kind of drift that fits and knock it out, but this one is kinda hard to get to, so advice appreciated. And yes Kev, i would love to bring it over your place - if only i had the time on a weekend. At least i can do a little each night after work and it slowly gets there - if i know how to do it cheers michael |

I have just done this. all I did was take the input gear off, took the circlip out, took the diff pinion off then used a piece of timber and a hammer and drifted the main shaft towards the input bearing and it came out pretty easy. Hope this helps. Pete |

Mick, Yes I do it just as deluxe_68 says, usually as part of the gearbox stripdown. If you want the nut undone, do it with the mainshaft's pinion nut, while box is still in one piece. U need to lock it in 1st & 4th gears... then hold the box from moving. ![]() |
