Post subject:  problem with my gear stick

had this problem for a while but been too busy to fix it, doesn't seem to be too much of an issue, all that happens is its not connected properly so it the whole stick and stuff swing when i push too hard to either side (i can manage not to move it at all, but wheneva sumone else hops in to move my car i always find it sloping towards the passenger side alot more (why be so rough?)

so i finally took a picture, i thought it would just need a screw to fix it but it seems to also have sum sort of rubber thing that has broke bad? whats the dealio guys (and girls) and how do i fix it??? (and whats the part called that i will need to order)

Just undo both 1/2" nuts. One on each end of the rubber isolation mount, buy a new one and install. Don't overtighten to the point where you are twisting the rubber part. These isolation mounts are the same as the exhaust support mounts.

When these are broken, you'll need to use vise grips or some other large plyers to hold the metal disc while you undo the nut.

pull it out and go to an exhaust place and ask for a cotton reel exhaust mount to replace it - cost you about $4....

You wouldn't believe how much better the shifter is with new cotton reels!

on the dodgey gear shifter topic, i was driving the clubby to wk the other day, and bam no gears, i was like wtf, so my boss towed me to the servo, and the split pin that holds the shifter to the gearbox was gone!!

You'll either need to replace both (best) or make sure you get one that matches in length - I think those are longer than your average exhaust one.

Split pin? As in cotter pin?
No wonder it broke...
It should have 2 roll pins (a.k.a. spring pin) in there, they are a drive in fit.

Quick question would this problem or similar one cause the shifter to wen in gear if you slightly touvch it whilst your driving to make the shifter sway from siude to side cause mine does that a bit? Or if not what might be a solution to make the shifter tighter?

thanks
