Well Rodney has been having ignition problems. At Bellarine Mini Centre this arvo, Rod came in to diagnose the problem. He had changed points, dizzy cap, plugs and the leads are as new. Problem was still there. So Pete told us to throw in a spare dizzy and see if that fixes the problem.

Once the new dizzy was in, Rod and myself jump in the car and go for a blurt down the road. It was better, but still far from good. So we pull over to adjust the advance. I jumped out and noticed his boot was open! Lukily, his tool box and tray of tools hadn't moved, even after fanging down Portarlington road (100km/h)!

So we get back and Pete recons the coil was hot when it shouldn't, meaning it's stuffed. So I grab the spare coil from my car and we bunged that in. Jump back in the car and go for another blurt. This time much better.

We get back and Pete goes "you're boots open". RODNEY!

Oh... seems like poeee's spare parts are keeping the Carter's Mini's on the road. I believe Dylans Clubby's Clubby has my coil mount in there, too! (Dylan is Rod's son)

Hah Hah Hah, been there, done that.

It was 1991 and I had just got my P plates and my first Mini. I was driving home on the old Menai road in Sydney (really windy and steep) in peak hour traffic. This truck was right up behind me flashing his lights. I thought "piss off, i'm keeping up with the traffic". Then the traffic stopped in front and he got out and walked up to my window. I thought I must have cut him off or something, but he was just telling me my boot was open.

I did that when installing my stereo. left the boot open with the sub sitting on the boot lid, then went for a drive. thank god i say. could have been an expensive mistake.
