You can tell when another fast and the furious movie is about to be released

Yes it has been done. Wizards of NOS in the UK sell a kit for the mini. Also easy to adapt a genuine NOS kit.

It is illegal though for road use. big fine.

My understanding is it's legal to have it all installed EXCEPT for the bottle on the street , that was in NSW a couple of years ago but don't know currently or interstate . I guess it's obvious though , if there's no bottle in the car then you obviously can't use it but if the bottles there the argument of "but I'm not using it " doesn't cut it .

My friend has a NOs kt on his car its a series 1 RX7 he drives it to his work ocassionally but never has the bottels in the car unless he's on the drag strip. This is the only legal way I know of to have an installed NOS kit.

I think a lot of it comes down to the safe storage of gases , if anything is connected in a street car it must be in a ventilated section seperate to the passenger compartment (camper-vans and mobile homes have gas cylinders in compartments that open to the outside) and if it's an LP cylinder to run the car everything must be vented outside . LP leaking into a car is bad enough but imagine if your NOS was leaking on a long drive and you ended up succumbing to the euphoric effects of Nitrous oxide .....

There was a Moke Californian running around Lismore for a while with Nitrous on a 1275 , blew the diff a few times at the drags and was later sold , now has a suzuki swift (I think) motor in the rear and is in Melbourne (maybe) .
