Post subject: | Question about tyres |
I need some advice from people - WHO KNOW I ordered a set of Yokkie A032R tyres today, then found out at 4:50pm that the last set in the country were snapped up during the week with no news on when others will be arriving. Two Questions. How do A008s compare to A032Rs obvioulsy they are not as good but I have a good "Scrubbed in" set of A008s here at home and considering I'm probably going to be plonking around at the back to save a few hundred dollars is very attractive. I have never used these tyres on the race track so I have no idea how they perform. From what I have been told they used t be the GUN tyre. What other tyres for 10 x 5 wheels would you recomend? What are the Hoosiers like? Any prices? THanks again. |

Thanks Ben, You know awhat its like. Somepeople are well meaning in their advise and while I like to talk minis as much as the next guy it doesnt take long for a thread to go from tyres to wheels to suspension to birds, chickens dogs etc and before you know it the thread is 20 posts long and my question has been forgotten. |

![]() ![]() Just slightly off topic, have you considered the dunlops instead of the Yokohamas? http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic ... ght=dunlop |

Chris, Having chased and led you around Wakefield a bit in the past (me A008s, you A539s) I'd say try the A008s, as you've got 'em. ![]() I know they are not as good as the A032Rs for racing, but they work OK for me on track days... and they survive daily driver use too. |

Can't fault the A008's for at least $25 a side cheaper |

I thought you could get the A008s for $100 per tyre. Ao32Rs are $210 per tyre so less than half price. 1360LS I think you can only get the 539 for 12 inch tyres. |

THere is also a really really really nice dunlop R tyre for the 12 inch wheels (see above link for some pix). If I ever got 12 Inch wheels again these would be the tyres for me. I think you have convinced me Kev. 4 new A008s. THat way I dont have to be too worried about killing the edges of them either. Chris |

The edges survive very well, I found. One reason to have a solid outer corner with no grooves in it. ![]() |

Oz If you are looking to buy tyres, instead of the old yokies.... See what you can get Dunlop D93J's for, someone posted here recently that they could be had for ~$125 tyre. These were a gun 10" mini radial race tyre in early 90's. For $25 more than an 008, you'd be on something soft. |
