check under the carpets, I bet the underlay is soaking wet and humidifying the car as things warm up.
See where the leak is- sit inside car and get it hosed
/watering canned..

OK, so I got my '76 clubbie, slowly working on everything. In the mornings, I notice that there is a crapload of condensation on the inside of the rear window. As the day warms up, this slowly trickles down the glass... Apart from replacing rubber in the entire car, what can I do? Cheers, Peter |

If you can park the car in the sun with the windows open it will dry out. It will dry out quicker if you remove the carpet! |

Bet there is a grommet or two missing from the floor - the carpet and underlay is just laying ovr the hole gathering moisture from the soggy city roads of Sydney |

Ok, I see. Thanks for the replies. I'll pull up the mats and whatever else is there... hmm... cant wait to see what else it there 
But you sure that would only affect the rear window? The others dont get as wet. 
I know for sure there is a hole under the passenger side foot area... Actually, so if I dry it all out, replace and underlay thats ratty, clean mats, etc... (and let it all dry nice) there are still holes. Do I just plug them up with the right size rubber grommets? Cheers, Peter. |

Yes Peter With the grommets (clarke rubber has a good range) but failing that you could epoxy resin gaffer tape over the holes etc - particularly rust holes in the floor etc. Its not a good fix but it buys you time while you assess all your priorities. Reminds of back in 1966 I went to Cairns (from Sydney) with a couple of friends in an old VW. We went through a series of flooded culverts and the Veedub had significant rust in the front floor pan and it simply filled up with water. The veedub owner came up with a brilliant idea. He used a hammer and cold chisel to cut holes in the rear floor pan. The flood water simply drained out the back holes. I do remember that looking at the road passing under your feet is mesmerisng and condusive to sleep in a non stop 3,000 plus klm drive. Its not a serious suggestion for you mini though |

Actually, I think I might have the issue(s) nailed. Confirm if you think this could be it. The Boot. Do you think it could be that the boot doesnt seal, there are 6x9's in the back parcel shelf and they allow moisture to come in. That along with the holes in my floor? If I take a picture (cant because a friend borrowed the camera) you would laugh. All the windows are not foggy/condensated (is that a word?) except the rear. OK, the windscreen a little, little bit. So, to add to my grommets... what else do I buy from Clark rubber to seal my boot? Cheers, Peter. |

Yes it could be the boot seal. If boot seal has had it I'd get another. Preferably from Karcraft, or Heritage MG. They are similar to the original Oz Mini foam type. $ 29.39 at Karcraft. re the carpet underlay- I no longer use it at all. It's just a moisture trap for when (not `if') water gets in.

There are 2 type of boot seals available now. Oz cars all got the foam type, it's affixed to the boot lid with a bunch of %*#$%&@^ little clips... Later Pommy cars got a rubber seal that fits on the body lip instead. NFI whether it's better or worse. I find the original type seal OK. |
