Hi Everyone. I'm wanting to cover my dash, both uper and bottom rail as well as re-do the shelf and the door pockets. Its a cooper s replica, so what vinyl will be a good match, where can i get it, how do i attach it(what glue)? does anyone have templates? I want ot use Anything else i need to know. Cheers Ryan |

gday Ryan I was told recently that you can get the correct vinyl from Minisport or Minispares - can't exactly remember which one. I heard it from Pete (ausmini user PetenSoaf) he bought some so if you PM him he might be able to help... Geoff |

The dash and bottom rails don't need templates, they are easy to fit (Apart from removing the front windscreen). The rear door pockets are found here: http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic ... ht=pockets |

The correct vinyl shade for an MK2 cooper S (black interior) is called "MG black". You can get it from almoust any auto trim supplier and its inexpensive. Usualy comes in two types the cheaper and the slightly more expensive one - get the more expensive type it'll look better. Just do a search for automotive trim supplies in your area. |

the best type of spray on contact adhesive glue which i use for upholstery that i use is called "super 74 foam fast adhesive" its a 3M product, costs about $30 a can but its quality is incredible. so good to use and you get more from the can than any other type. i dont think you need to remove the front windscreen to do the top rail. just start off with a straight edge on the vinyl and glue to the bottom of the top rail and work your way up slowly making sure that every bit of it is stuck down and when you reach the top part which is more like a convex shape run a sharp blade around the top following the curve of the body...same thing on the lower rail..always start with a straight line |

thanks guys If i dont remove the front window, how do i get the vinyl to sit flush with the window rubber. Ryan |

Without removing the window here you can try and sneak it up under the lip of the windscreen rubber, but the result can be a little tedious to achieve. LOTS of patience is needed here and you will find it difficult to do. When you buy the MG Black, you will find there is two types called by the same name. One is coarse in texture and not much good, and the other is a fine grain, this is nice and stretchy to fit around corners. This is the one you need. Daley's AMU Supplies in Parramatta are pretty good and have an amazing amount of this stuff on hand. It's about 16 or 17 dollars per meter. |
