Well the roof lining in my mini isn't very old and was in perfect condition, until the auto electricians burnt a nice fat hole in it. Are these easy to replace yourself? I'm pretty sure people have asked this before, but it never seems to get answered. Have most people done it themselves?

Is that $260 plus parts? Or was that just labour? Can I make these damn auto electricians pay for it, since it was their damn fault!!?

It's their fault, make em pay for it. Simple as that.

The Auto Elec will probably organise for it to be 'fixed' not replaced.
Depending on how big the hole is I reckon.

if its not an original hoodliner, than the material used to make it is still probably matchable, without seeing picture's i'd dare say the actual repair will be a piece of cake.
The only real cost will be labour, coz they need to pull your windows out, then your hoodliner, then replace the panel, then install it all back again.

$260 is good.

No - not glue - look for imprintshapes that resemble stiletto heels. Then their presense explains the stains.

try a light spray of vinyl paint - my Cooper S has had the sides of it's head lining painted, and I didn't realise for 6 months after buying it!

I should have mentioned, mine isnt vinyl.. it's fabric.. Would this make it easier or harder to repair?

I have that same weird colour on the sides of my headlining. It is probably overspray. Nugget Gold looks a lot like glue. 8)

oh jeez - you're on your own now, who knows how it's been done

and everyone, it's glue.... the ladies in the factory used paintbrushes and put crap loads of it on to stick the head lining up... horrid stuff like kwikgrip
