Post subject:  Question on engine

I have jsut recieved my van and I am very happy. It runs very well and strong 1275. When it reahces about 100 it blows some oil. I ask the question why. It has the oil breather on the side (on top of clutch), and there are no backing plates on the motor, its solid metal there. It is still running its standard pea shooter exhaust on it. Could this cause it ? It does not blow anything till 100, and not heaps at 100 but noticable. It obviously has something to do with pressure build up but what? The motor is said to be recoed 5000 kms ago, and sounds like it. Runs perfect, and gearbox is very tight and smooth. Any suggestions?
I will get pics up of the van on teh weekend.

Could be the rings, try doing a compression test and see. I Know, recently reconditioned. But still, check the compression.

Mine blows white/grey smoke in the high RPM ... any gear when its pushed.
My mechanic thought it was rings at first but then could easily tell that it was mixtures.

My mini is running REALLY rich... you can smell the fuel everywhere and anyone around it gets high. Alas, its staying home until my carby kit arrives and we tune it.

As mentioned, get compression checked.
How old is the oil in it? What type?

Normally a thicker oil will stop smoking a bit... but if its only at 100km/h (what RPM are you doing?)
If you peg it and stay in 3rd at high RPM does it smoke? or ONLY in 4th at over 100?

Peter.

Will do a compression test tomorrow. Carby isnt tuned right so that may be the problem. I will see.
