Post subject: | Roll cage debate, for Meeni |
After Meeni's post a few weeks ago regarding roll cages & there costs, i had a little chat to him in Hay about cages, here are some pics of cars the had proper cages fitted to them & had big accidents, all people involved walked away from these big hits. ![]() ![]() ![]() There not all that expensive in the grand scheme of things. The Galant is a excellent example, it clipped a bank on the inside of the corner, the car flipped onto its side & slid roof 1st into a tree, the 2 occupants got out (unhurt) pushed the car back onto its wheels, changed a flat tyre & drove it away. The car was also repaired & is still out there somewhere rallying. Doogie |

Reminds me of another one. Many years ago we turned up for a bit of a bash around at a track day. One of the guys pulled out a set of flame proof averalls and got a bit of a ribbing about taking things too seriously. As he said "I would hate to be traped in a car on fire and my suite was neatly packed away at home". Fire burns just as hot weather you are racing or just having a bit of a bash around. |
