Hi All,

I am thinking of buying a Mini. How loud inside a mini would it be with this combo? Is it still drivable and can you still talk and listen to the radio?

45 DCOE Weber
Race Cam
LCB 2" exhaust
Close Ratio Gear Box straight cut with drop gears

You would get quite a lot of noise in the Mini.
Have you planned to 'noise proof' it?

Look that up in the forums (not only mini) and see how people do it... it may help.
But hey, why would you want to... part of the fun in having the mini is hearing it roar! :)

Peter.

yeah, you'll be able to talk and listen to the radio, but eventually you'll get sick of sitting in the driveway and you'll want to start the motor and drive it somewhere.....

cos after that it'll be FRIGGING LOUD!!!

mines loud enough standard, youd need a hefty amount of sound proofing for it, but is this for a road car? chances are a race cam and weber etc will end up pissing you off, on fuel, driveability etc.

Agreed.

Mine was DAMN loud with the weber, and I didn't have straight cut gears to contend with. Admittedly, there was only a piece of vinyl between my ramflo and the back of the instrument cluster, but really, you have to make a choice - do you want a race car on the road or do you want music/conversation??

I have 2" lcb and exhaust, a decent amount of sound proofing. With twin su's and the exauast, heat fan on. It is unbelievably loud! Yeah you can here radio. I have Pioneer 200watt system. But to hear it you need to turn it, then you can't ear ne thing else. But with a weber? That would be crazy!

Some of the worst capsules in the world for sound, and people want to put stereos in them.:)

Stereos only serve to drown out the glorious sound of an A series engine and gearbox anyway!

Mate!

Actually, there is a dude selling a 1380 with 45mm webber, 2" exhaust (engine is worked!!!) in Lane Cove (Mowbray Rd)

Maybe go and talk to him, tell him you want a test drive then see how it sounds...

ok, sound ... Hmmm how can i describe this .....

My Brick - Turbo 998, running about 0.019" valve clearance, an RE-13T and 1.5:1 rockers .... 2" Straight-through exhaust and lightened flywheel as well as numerous little "noise adders" (Think BOV, Turbo, and others...)

Conversations are possible, but not real easy.. ask Maxi, picked him up at 6am and he heard me coming from about 1/2 a K away ... (Very quiet suburb)

Sound level is similar to sitting on a Sydney "Grey-Rattler" train .....

Its not for comfort....

Oh yea, forgot to mention that i have ZERO insulation in the entire car ...
No carpet, no headlining (changing that soon JAM_IT) and Nothing inside except the seats and door-cards ....

so its kinda like sitting ina motorised Drum machine....

but its still fun.....
