Should read:

blah blah blah "who is a boilermaker and he has done a great job." blah blah blah

OR

blah blah blah "who is a boilermaker. he did a great job." blah blah blah

Don't take personal offence, I'm angry with everyone!

I think they look wonderful.

I think they look nicely made but the design doesn't look very strong. Are you planning on consulting an engineer? Because i reckon they'll fail and engineer's test.

Those were my exact same thoughts.

Flat bar can bend. Should be made out of 30x30 angle iron at the least. That rear leg is WAY too flimsy in design.

I doubt they would even pass an inspection in a race car......

IF you were to use these AFTER your slip inspection (use a standard seat and bracket for the inspection then swap em over), you should get the rear leg made into a box section, and weld a vertical bar underneath the length of the top rail.

These brackets seem to be very sturdy, i have them currently in the car with a pair of recaro look aliike seats. They are made of 50mm flat bar and are 5mm thick. The seats bolt down at the end of the brackets and they don't move around at all.

Thanks all for the Comments.

They may look and feel sturdy now, but i would hazzard a guess that if you took your seats out in a few months time after you've been using them for a while they will have started to sag..

To me, being an old boilermaker they look ok. You have to remember all the weight is downward and where the bolt holes are placed right at the end of the brackets near the bends make them strong enough. The middle sections wont have any weight on them at all.. If need be, just a couple of cross stays welded between the legs and middle section will make all the difference..

One must remember what the brackets are going to be bolted down on, a very thin peice of metal of the floor (best to put some flat bar under the nuts for a bit more support). Also the seats are only made of very thin, lightweight pipe and if anything is going to break in an accident, more as likely the bolts holding them down would go first.. Just have a good look at the size of the bolts and brackets that hold the standard Mini seat in???
