Ziff, I don't know if Singleton has one? But Cessnock is usually in August:

NEWCASTLE VINTAGE SWAPMEET AUGUST 12-13, 2006. CESSNOCK SHOWGROUNDS.
PH: ALAN, 0408 342 128.

From Unique cars website........

Cheers Graham :P

Thanks Graham. That's probably the one I was thinking about. All I remember from last year is that it was very icy and I had to buy all the kids a beanie out there to stop the frost bite :-)

Wanna see the long one ?

Basically, there is a swapmeet every weekend in oz... ya might have to travel a little though...

I try to get to most of the "local" ones (ie, a 150Klm Radius)

:) Fair enough. I'll have to start doing a bit of leg work to get the bits and pieces for the new car. I suppose that's one of the biggest problems with buying a bare shell :(

I'd almost suggest sitting back and watching Ebay ...

I did the Swapmeets for a few years as a seller, and in the years that Graham and I did it, it got harder and harder to sell stuff, then to buy better stuff with the money we made ...

Yea, you get the occasional gem (I got a pair of NOS Front Guards for a Mk1 for $100 !! as well as a drivers door skin for a deluxe!!)

But in the main, Swapmeets are dying .. Gosford used to be huge ... this year, I was around the whole thing 3 times in 1 hour .... and most of that was dealers or crap ...

Sorry for being a pessimist, but i think you are sitting on the biggest concentration of mini parts in the southern hemisphere, right here on Ausmini !!

Cheers
J

You're probably right. The problem is I'm after what everyone else wants. The cheaper option of finding a donor car as opposed to buying the parts one by one from a Mini wreckers. Unfortunately buying the bits singly will end up costing a fortune. I'm not sure if you remember me as I haven't been on here for quite a while and I only spoke to you briefly at Cessnock last year but I have the brown Clubby and am doing the ground up resto of a 67 Deluxe. Unfortunately things ground to a halt about six months ago but I am getting it all going again now. Fingers crossed I'll have it up and running by this time next year.

Hey, I just realised that was my 100th post and I have been promoted to an 848cc. Sorry but for someone that doesn't post very often that seems like a big deal. I'll shut up now.
