I have just discoved a treasure trove called the Reverse Garbage Warehouse. I picked up two pieces of foil backed foam with the lead sound deadening layer in the foam.

One piece is 1.2 m x 150mm and the other is 1.6m x 280mm The foam as I said is Foil on one surface about 25mm thick and the layer of lead deadening stuff about 8mm from the foil face. All for $11

Also got two half height steel panel cases suitable for some amplififers I'm building Full of electronic stuff I haven't fathomed yet but they were $9.50 each - the cases empty on their own are $70 each in the electronics shops

Oh by the way I went looking for some MDF off cuts - they didn't have any
