If I am changing from universal rubber type to steel universal joints (ball bearing type). Can I reuse the same driveshafts, i.e does the connecting end interchange on both?

NO. Not with pot joints, length and inner spline are different.

But if you were fitting the Cooper S style Hardy Spicer joints, then yes.
