How do you know when your ignition lock is buggered? Mine has just decided to not turn anymore. The steering lock is on and no matter how much i fiddle turning the wheel and key it doesn't budge. The key won't even turn. Its basically like its the wrong key, but it is the right key. How do u take the ignition thing off the steering column anyway? or do you have to replace the ignition and steering column together?
cheers

Clubby??

Your barrel might have packed it in. Maybe one of the springs on a pin has broken. There are 4 bolts holding the ignition barrel to the column. You can unscrew them with a flat blade screwdirver and remove the whole ignition barrel. Column stays put.

Plenty of second hand ones around with key. Attach in reverse order to removal.

Anton.

I agree when I replaced Morris steercolumn I had to drill out the "bolts" as thier was no way to unbolt them. Was not to much trouble thought

The bolts are 'shear-head' type. In other words, when you do them up, the heads shear off so no bugger can remove your steering lock and nick your car! Well done Leyland! Drill them out or use a stud remover and get some new ones. Karcraft should stock them.
