Hi
I'm making up some new trims for in the door pockets. Can anyone tell me what i use to make them stiff. The only way i can describe it is like thick cardboard.

Does anybody know?

Hey Ryan,

Well, I just happened to rip mine out today.
Yes, looks like cardboard.

If I was making new ones, I would go to the hardware store and buy 3mm MDF (MAKE SURE YOU SEAL IT! Paint it, thatl do...)

Many people used something else, hmm, it was called... ummm... darn lost it... but it looks like carboard. Its a bit heavier than MDF though... but supposedly doesnt need sealing.

Otherwise go to a craft shop and buy cardboard (really stiff heavy card)

I'll use MDF for the flat base and thick cardboard for the corner shaped bits.

Cheers,
Peter

PS: I'll try to salvage the board I already have... see if that is OK...

Would loooove to go, but not sure yet. (my sons christening the week before and the Mrs may want time together)

I'll be taking off the other side on Saturday.
Like I said, if I am not using them, they're on hold for you... so no worries there.

Ping me on Monday and i'll have a 100% answer for you bout the trim... cool?

We'll work out how to get them to you too. Shouldnt be a problem, if I am not going to the bbq then maybe you can come and grab them or something... either way, if I dont use 'em they're yours.

Cheers,
Peter.

Hmm, just one question though... I have a clubman... pockets are the same size I imagine... but not 100% on that.

I think the original backing for door trims is like masonite? I used thin plywood for my door trims. MDF can swell up if it gets wet..... all to common with a mini door!!!!! I painted my plywood with a sealant, just to protect it if the window seals cant keep all the water out....

Masonite! Thats the one... I couldnt think of it for the life of me.

BUT masonite is heavier and more expensive than MDF (just coat it first)
