To paint or not to paint...that is the question!

I am painting my front subframe, but since I cleaned up my suspension arms I think they look good as is (unpainted).

Should I paint them? If yes, why?!?

If I paint them, it will be black, so this ISN'T A COLOUR POLL (poeee, Phil, Mike T etc)

YES,

Why, well I just think they will have a more uniform look, maybe even look a bit neater. And, well, its black, which is a cool colour (or shade or whatever if u want to be techinical).

hmmmm......thats not as dumb as it sounds......

But.....They are a part that will get knocked around quite a bit (stones, dirt, cats etc) so any paint coating will get a hard time. That's why I am thinking leave them. They cleaned up like new, freshly cast parts.

Touch decision, because nice glossy black paint, to match the subframe would look sweet!

:?

Ever thought of having them zinc plated. You can choose from goldish or silverish colour. Prevents rust and won't fall off like paint will eventually.

Thanks. I don't know much about mechanical stuff but looks, well that's another thing.

I had some parts done and it wasn't very expensive considering it lasts a lot longer than paint.

Found this. If I had the money I would try it out.

Nickel Plating Kit

Years ago I nickel plated some bonnet hinges on a Torana - Looks just as good as chrome!

I've sent an email and asked
Quote:
Can you please tell me how much a kit will plate? What would be the largest single item possible to plate? and can the individual components be purchased separately as they are used up?

I'll let you know the answer.
