Okie dokie, i have got a 3-piece woodgrain dash lying about (matching numbers) and was considering putting into the mini, problem is i am not really a massive fan of wood grain, and the laminate finish is a bit tatty.

so what i was considering to do is cover it in some felt or material to match the rest of my car. i would just like to know if the adhesive would distroy the laminate finish???

it will only be std run of the mill type adhesive, nothing special...

thoughts...........???

get a vanish coloured the same as your car and spray the woodgrain. I have a wood grain dash in miy clubman but its coloured charcoal so it matched up. Otherwise yeh felt could work.

:D Hey Rohan. Just had a good look at woodgrain dash in my van. to get felt to stick properly you would need to scuff back the varnish to allow the glue to get good adhesion. maybe you could give dash a good rub back repair daggy bits with builders bog ie filler and then paint it up to match car color or something else in the interior. whatever you do chances are it will be hard to return dash to its former unrestored condition. :D :D :D

a paint finish would be cool.
Though, as I see it (and I'm not sure if this is what the other guys mean)
But Why not paint it so you can still see the wood grain underneath it, so it matches the car.
If You're not sure what to do You could maybe go to a timber yard and get some scrap timber bits (they usually sell them for a couple of dollars a piece) and play around with different finishes and see what you like best, and so you dont completely stuff your dash board.

The original might be worth something to somebody, maybe you could make a copy of it yourself. You can then change any layouts or features you dont like or prefer, and you don't have to worry about wrecking the laminate. :D

Oh, and after you measure it would you care to send me a sketch with dimensions?
Thanks. 8) :D
