so an era has come to an end,
i've been putting off getting stuck into the vtec conversion so i could fulfil a tradition that had been started when i first got the mini, and that is at least once a ski season taking her for a run up one of the mountains.
normally it's been falls creek but this weekend i changed it up a bit and went mt hotham. possibly jinxed it all a bit because i didn't make it home under a series power instead merc v8 power was the order of the day for getting home.
so around half way home just outside of benella the big end starts making a hell of a noise. walked to benella to buy some thicker oil to try bring oil pressure up, so i did a side of the hume highway oil change and filled up with 80w90 oil. this got me into benella itself, around 8km, before oil pressure dropped off again and the nasty big end noise returned.
so in my last vain attempt to get home on my own i pulled the oil pressure reg out and spaced out the spring as much as possible to try bring oil pressure up again (try doing that with a shifter on the side of the road in the dark!!) that only got me the next couple of km to the truck rest stop outside of benella on the side of the hume where i had to make the now inevitlbe phone call begging someone to come and get me!!!
and low and behold 4 hours sitting in the truck stop bored out of my mind later i was saved by my mate in his 79 merc 450 sel with a car trailer.
the motor was going to pulled and serious work was to begin once i got back on the vtec conversion, guess i got no excuse not to get started on it now!!!
bit of snow cover:
moments before i left: note the time
ariving home: again note the time
