maybe i should soke the whole thing in wd40 blooddy bolts all of them i sweeaar are rusted |

...and a not to gentle "tap" with a BFH & a drift helps break the rust seal. You think minis are bad for that? Try mokes

Another trick is to clean the heads of nuts and bolts before the WD40 - a wire brush is fine. Also use only good quality unworn / undamaged sockets. Sometimes a single hex socket will grab a worn rusty nut much better than a double hex socket. |

Option 1. Soak 'em with WD-40 (easy) Option 2. Parrafin or ammonia - (never used it, but supposedly works) Option 3. Hot Ice or Dry Ice on the bolt/nut then undo it (Gloves! and care!) I had a thread here not long ago. There was no chance in hell I could get my Window Winder off without the trusty WD-40 Just remember to be patient!!! If you rush, you will surely end up snapping or stripping (more than likely, stripping) Let them soak and in the morning give them a tap with a hammer (not too much) then try undo-ing

ok thanks i will try the WD40 now and try again in the morning and then if that doesnt work i will try soaking the thing in petrol and light a match

welll i sprayed it and let it sit for a few hours then i had another go and mnnm well yeah it kinda worked except i broke 2 out of 8 bolts we are talking front subframe removal i broke the two on the driver side (top two on the bulkhead) they were rusted as and yeah broke just above the thread is this bad i think it shouldnt matter as i will use new bolts anyways when putting the new subrames in |

Do you mean bad as in unfixable?... if so its not too bad but if you mean bad as in is it going to be one hell of a pain in the arse to get the threads of those 2 bolts out... then yes... this could be considdered bad |

i see a lot of old rusty bolts on old bolts and the way we, get them off is wd40, failing that get a blow tourch and heat it up a bit then a few tip with a hammer. i have to admitt on my boot lid i have 1 bolt on each hinge hold the thing on, |

but im not using the same subframes again so i wont have to get the bolts out straight away by bad i mean this shouldnt stop the frames from seperating from the body should it when i go to lift the body off |

Front or rear subframes ????? If you dont have the man power, lifting the body off the subframe is going to bend panels. Either the quarter panels or or the mudguards. - dont even attempt it until you have four strong people (regardless of testosterone claims and the manual) and a clear path behind or in front of the car. Dropping (lowering - I mean and with a trolley jack) the rear subframe onto the ground from a properly supported body is the safest and easiest way. You do need safe jack stands and a good trolley jack as basic equipment to do this job. People do get hurt when things slip and fall. WORK SAFE !!!!!! |

yeah im talking about the front subframe i have allready taken the bolts at the rear and its resting supported about 2 inchs below the shell i have a trolly jack and four stands which are currentlly holding the shell up there are two bolts left in the front the two which are under the car which i will take out when i have some hands i planned to four people one on each wheel arch to lift up the shell and walk it bakc and lift it on to my trolly frame which i made last week to be honest i was considering me at the back and two friends on the front either side but i will get another |
