...whereby I purchase vehicles sight unseen on the internet. So far I have bought my Commer van and an 850, but yesterday I bought a yellow Clubman estate. The truck will be here tomorrow (Hastings to Wellington delivery). It's for my wife, to replace her 850 with something with a bit more load capacity. I asked if she wanted a Toyota van, but she replied she wanted something with character - Ain't she great?

Anyway, pics tomorrow. In fact, the pics may be up here before my wife finds out about her new transport (It's a surprise).

The syncho on 2nd is a bit ropey and possibly a CV joint on the way out, but really happy with my purchase. The paint is very good, not bothered that someone's painted the bumpers as I'll be adding flares and dunlop mags as soon as it stops raining. So that will be sometime in September. Oh, and tinting the rear windows as well I think. The previous owner had named it "Pus Bucket" owing to the original mustard brown colour, so picking a new name is another job.

And it even perked up my wife, who's got the flu

Yup, seems original apart from the paint. Battery under the rear seat. The bottom bit of the seat folds forward and the back folds flat. Spare wheel under a ply cover in the rear load space.

My wife has given it a spin and pronounced it a good buy. :D

Looks great. Would be rare as hens teeth here in Oz.
Colour match those bumpers though!

Any pics of your commer van? You don't see to many around now. Always thought a lower mid engine V8 in a space frame would make a pretty mean commer van. 8)

^^^ My driveway, now out of date

This is the Commer (below):
Image.
It needed a bit of catch up maintenance when I bought it, but runs well now. Luckily most of the motor parts are common to the Hillman Hunter, and all the body panels are in really good shape, just poor paint over them. The summer project will be to paint it in a white & blue color scheme. Until then it does great duty taking stuff to the tip, carting furniture and so on.
