Couple of months ago when I was having hassles with the timing and generally the car was not running too good, checked everything and replaced newish bits with brand new bits etc etc and discovered the coil was leaking. Replaced it with an old one I had in the garage - believe it or not, that one went POP today. Replaced it with a brand new Bosch gt40t - great. Then on the way home, one of the 'cotton reels' that holds the quick shift in position went kaput. So I'll replace that and any suspect ones tomorow. I wonder whats going to break on the weekend!! I knew I shouldn't have said anything - fixed the 'cotton reels', jumped in the car to reverse off the ramps and there's next to no clutch!!! Must be a seal or several of them that have reached the end of their life in the master or slave........bugger...........and I was going on Poeee's birthday cruz tomorrow. Oh well 
Might just need some adjustment - Mrs just pushed the pedal for me and it looks like there's plenty of travel - might even be the clutch plate I suppose. There's also hydraulic fluid almost to the top of the master. Any thoughts folks?? |

Look at the pins that connect the pedal - they tend to wear a groove in them and can throw your adjustments out. Had a similar problem and found it was the tin clutch cylinder. Replaced it with one of the plastic Delphi ones and the clutch now disengages right at the start of its travel(unlike previously where you needed 2 pumpes to get it to engage and then it was a poofteenth off the floor) Good luck and Hooroo Rob Forsyth Minot!! |

Rob, thats exaxtly whats happening - the pedal goes a 'poofteenth' from the floor before I can engage any gears and several pumps for reverse. Also, it's creeping forward if you just sit there in gear with the clutch held down. The old tin master cylinder was replaced a couple of years back so I guess it's time for a change. Thanks for that - still not going cruising tho, gotta get it fixed. Cheers |
