25 grand seems a bit steep no matter what sort of mini..

It may have zip on the odometer or never driven much further, yer to expencive for me. If I wanted trophies I'd by them my self rather than $25,000 thanks

Seems rather pricey... at the last all brit day that red one owner car with 60,000 original k's on the clock in immac condition is what I would be looking for... and the owner wanted $10k less. Then again this car is a whole decade older... so I would not part with it for anything less than what this guy is asking. It looks like a unique car... Shame he's selling :(

Sorry I keep referring to this particular elusive red mini but man, I was totally SOLD when I saw it and it will always remain my benchmark car...

Yes, this is the car that will be featured. The guy rang me and was supposed to bring it to MINISHOW. Never turned up. The only thing I don't get is that yes it is the first Mini in Australia but it has been totally restored. To me it has lost all it's true originality. For those that seem to have a bee in their bonnet about this I don't see how it can be the same. It is supposed to have rubber mats and it has carpet for instance. That's not truly original.

I wonder what the true original person thinks of this car? :?: :?:

I know the guy who is selling this car. It cost him a LOT more than that to build, believe me.

He was careful to keep original bits that differ from the later minis such as the radius arms, trumpets, wheels, lousy synchros, wet primary gear etc.

The only reason it has carpets is that he could not get new rubber mats ANYWHERE. The original mats were missing and not even Newton Commercial could supply them!

I don't doubt that the cost is below the replacement of the car. I know how much you need to spend on these projects. It'###### cheaper if you can buy a Mini that has all the hard work done as it is always done as a labour of love and you never get your money back.

You said it Jan.

But nothing beats the satisfaction of having the car exactly the way YOU want it. :)

Totally agree, but the next person to buy the car usually picks up a bargain.

I believe that is the same car that is on the new mag cover.... a guy who lives around the corner from me says his father had the honour of driving it around melbourne for the first 2 weeks it was in the country - he was given special permission to do whatever he wanted with it. Park it on the footpath, drive through parks, you name it - all in the name of advertising the Morris' new baby. Nice claim to fame... I reckon $25K is about right for something that special

we've all seen restored Cooper S's at that money - there are even some asking $35K
