Now you've done the exhaust, it's probably got less back pressure and is breathing better. Sound like you might need a richer needle in the carb, or at least adjust the jet down a bit richer.

Hi guys, had a problem with accelerating from cold after I got a new larger exhaust put in. Had a standard 998cc exhaust and it kept cracking at the manifold entrance. The muffler was also stuffed so I thought **** and got extractors put in with a new muffler and larger pipe size. The car wont accelerate uniformly for a while till I've driven it a bit (20-25 mins). Doesn't matter how long I leave it to warm up in the driveway it wont accelerate properly till i've driven it a bit. When I try to accelerate it stutters a bit (almost like a spark plug isn't firing) and then either I lose acceleration and have to release the pedal and push in again or it'll stutter and then kick in and zoom off. Is there something that's supposed to be adjusted after an exhaust upgrade? Other problem was turning left. Everytime I turn left I lose power in the pedal. I'm not flooring it or anything but if I've even got the pedal slightly depressed it'll stutter and go back to normal as I straighten the wheel out. Kind of annoying on slow corners as I slow right down with no acceleration till the wheels straight again. Right side turning is fine and the acceleration stays constant throughout. Any ideas? |

Yeah its got to do with the fuel chambers in the carb. To the left is where all minis lose fuel as the pumps cannot cope or some crap. As for the acceleration mystery ive got no idea. |

As for the acceleration mystery ive got no idea. Any fix for this? I had the same problem about two years ago, took it to a mechanic and he managed to fix it but it was the same time as a whole lot of otehr stuff was being done so I don't know exactly how he did it. If it's some easy fix I wouldn't mind having a crack at it myself. Shard |
