a list of colours for past minis can be found here - http://www.ozcooper.com.au/paint_codes.htm

i'd suggest you go talk to a paint and body specialist and ask to look through their sample books, you'll be blown away with all the different colours and effects they can apply.

The original colour/s should be on the ID plate fixed to the bulkhead behind the master cylinders.
If its a genuine 'S' dont muck about with a colour change even if it is a "Girl Thing". You will devalue the car if its not in the original colour. And yes I'm one of the Authenticity Police.

of course if it is a real Cooper S then its a good idea to keep it original..

Just don't paint it british racing green with a white roof.... red with a black roof! now thats nice. old english white with a black roof. Smoke grey with a white roof. But if you have an original s, original colour is the way to go, even if it is BRG.
