Hey All

Anyone who knows me on here or has talked to me for more than two minutes, knows I'm getting more and more bitten by the rally bug every day!! :shock:

I've been lamenting the fact that I don't have the cash to get a proper rally car (or even an excel series car!! :lol: ) together. I have found a short term solution!! The Bay Stages Rally (Batemans Bay) this year has running alongside it the "Bay Starters Rally". It is a chance for first timers to have a go at rallying in essentially a standard car. You only do 4 stages and about 80 km competitive, and are completely separated from the rest of the field - ie you do stages 3 and 4 before the main rally starts, then 1 and 2 after the field has already gone through.

Since I'm trying to get into the excel series (eventually :roll: ), and I have an excel for my road car now, I'm going to have a crack at in my excel. I'm actually really bloody excited about this. One of the things the organisers are doing to try and get some new blood into the sport is to offer an afternoon's free driver training on the Oran Park Rally Circuit with sideways action rally school! I reckon it's a pretty good opportunity, and too good to pass up.

Anyone interested in having a go, or coming along to have a look??

Too far to have a look but it's a bloody good idea , need something like this to get people interested and let them see they can do it without having to buy a WRX or Lancer Evo . Good luck with it and let us know how you go .

I wonder if forestry has done some work on the roads? My memories of Bateman were the roads were really rocky in places, lots of nice drop offs too :( I killed a set of Bilstein shocks in my commodore at Batemans Bay. Good luck Bob, big risk if you ask me using your road car.

Hay, it's not about the car, it's not about the venue, it's about the people that come here. Peter Dwyer, Mayor of Hay NSW.

Bob;
I bet your missus has said "the excel is yours, I'm keeping the commodore". :D

Or to paraphrase your avatar,
"The excel, your not taking the excel, I just polished the dipstick!". :lol:
