| Post subject: | wireing looms and disc brakes |
hello ive got a 1962 850 with an 1100 motor that i need a wireing loom for. could anyone give me some advice on what i need and where i could get it for the best price. also does anyone have a soloution for the ever annoying disc brake problem? i need some discs for my car but dont have the cash as im only thirteen, are there any cheaper disc brake setups that i could use to retain the ten inch cosmics i have on my car at the moment. im not interested in the seven inch cooper discs as i know they are worse then the single cylinder drums!!! any help would be great cheers sean. |

"All the rage" on here at the moment is the Honda Civic disc conversion. The discussion is in the Mini Mods part of the forum, you'll see the post because it's usually at the top. Can't help ya with the loom info. I've usually just fixed up an existing one or made one from scratch. Welcome to ausmini |

You can dream about a cheaper disc brake set up, thats about all you can do. As for the wiring harness contact Vinwire 02 6655 1677 they do reproduction wiring harnesses, i actually ordered my MK2 Cooper S harness today, cheap at $330 Doogie |

Honda Civic or City discs- check out http://ausmini.tziworld.com/viewtopic.php?t=163 <edit> we put a set of 9" ones on a Clubbie with 12x5 wheels and servo, brakes are muckin fagic. Outstops my 7.5" S discs, by heaps! BTW, 7" Cooper discs (new rotors) with 998 metal pads and a servo, are not bad. I ran them on a 998 Clubbie automatic for a year or two. 
And if you find any, the Cooper swivel hubs are the same as a Cooper S. Then the only real dear bits to get are the S calipers...

By the time you find all the parts,rebuild them, have them machined to suit and get the disc's engineered, you will have payed just as much as cooper s brakes yes they are hard to find, but i really think that this whole honda conversion thing is really just throwing money aay, as you may not pass the engineering test. and that can be up to $500 a pop... gets expensive when you get knocked back. Also don't think about just doing them and not getting them engineered, you WILL NOT be insured if you have an accident. Do what you like but it todays day and age, it is best to be safe than sorry.
