Hey all, i have recently purchased another mini, a 68 mini van. And it will eventuate into a show stoper. But first it need a lick of paint, so a colour is needed first.
My first intention is a silver with a blue pearl through it...?
Any ideas on what colour i should paint it?

What colour is it now? :?:
What colour do you normally find you cant stop looking at on cars?
I painted my van white (boring but cheap) and when i next see my mate who sprayed it we are putting an extra coat of clear with blue pearl cause it didn't come through before.
When I paint my next car the colour will be a purple like on the new xr falcons or ss comonwhores, but thats me.
The fiancee's car is going to be painted twilight royal (think fairlane purple) which has 3 different pearls in it which makes it almost translucent (like a candy) so if we were to paint it using white undercoat it will come up light if we use black it will be dark and whatever else in between

Try spray putty pink (using spray putty) then clear over the top and hey presto you can do running repairs and colour match at the same time hehehehe

What sort of show stopper? is it going to be a concours car or are you going to make it a racer type car, or are you going to rice it up? Concourse, that should be the original colour, racer, then a cooper s colour scheme, or rice mobile, probably some kind of Candy colour, red, green, light blue mettalic paints. So whats it gonna be? concours, racer or rice?

Cheers

Aaron

If you are talking a show car then I would recommend a really different type of paint that will attract people. You need to get their attention with the paint work then they look at the rest.

There are some fantastic paints around so I would do some real homework if this is what you are after. Not all of these paints are that expensive.

Well im goin for the rice look.. not original colours as after a few years they look like crap. As i have a 76 clubman and it was resprayed about 6 years ago in the scarlette o'hara with the british paints and now it looks like ass, and this will be a nice car when it is finished, ill give it 2 to 3 months and JAN you had better look out cos there will be another mini takin the front covers on the magazines, with a better sound system to suit, none of this diamond audio, or kenwood rubbish, no offence but nearly every car that has had a respray and put some nice mags on it and then done the engine... has had a crap audio system, which in my opinion almost wrecks the money and time spent on makein this car look good.
So i say again MUTANT look out

Ohh and my bad, at the moment it is a dark greenish gray colour.
Also i will need a dual battery setup to power the system but that is easily taken care of, what concerns me is the power output from the alternator, i think the biggest made to suit a mini is about 60ish amps and the system that i have in the clubby at the moment draws around 120ish amps, so i had to buy a big mother OPTIMA battery. The best by far in the range of batteries i can run my system without the car being on and still the car will start without fail.. Sure the batteries are damn expensive your lookin at about $400 for a OPTIMA battery that has around 820ca and i think from memory about 780cca so the battery has the power for the job but i dont want to go changing alternators every week that will just get too expensive...
I will post some pics soon just have to get the damn memory stick for the carmera..

i didnt know batteries could get that exxy
yours would fit behind the passenger seat, would it fit in a normal boot of a mini?

Yeah it fits strait into the boot of the clubby.. Not to sure bout behind the seat of the van yet. The battery is almost the same physical size as a standard battery it just has alot more punch.. and i think the battery i chose was second or third from the top they had, so it wasnt even the most expensive
