I did a search in here and found no information on the original colours that the mini in australia came out in

what I am looking for is a sample of the different colours and the old formula of tints etc to mix up
not stuff of the compliance plate
Is there a member who has this information such as an old sales brochure with colours
or an ex panel beater who can add to this post

thanks for reading

I have access to a few old paint formula books, mainly the Dulux early books with formulas for most old car colours including interior colours, wheels etc

Paint chips/swatches I don't know where you'd find some nowdays, The only way you get to see a colour is to find another one painted in the same colour or a photo of one.

If you know the Colour code or Name and the Year of the car you need the colour for I can help out with a mixing formula that your local auto paint supplier should be able to cross reference the tinters with to make the colour.

For those interested , these are my Leyland colour samples , they are the actual paint sprayed onto a sheet of foolscap sized thin cardboard with details on the back of what had the colour and what trim it was , all very basic though .

The colours are from top left
AM EYE BLUE 4200 , CAMINO GOLD 9600 , HAIRY LIME 5300 , GAMBIER TURQOISE 4700 .

2nd row
PEEL ME A GRAPE (metalic) 8200 , PLUM LOCO 7700 , ARIANCA TAN 7500 , BOLD AS BRASS 8300 .

3rd row
OH FUDGE 7200 , DRY RED 2100 , COUNTRY CREAM 6100 , HOME ON TH' ORANGE 9200 .

The colours in the photo look very little like the colours on the paint cards but it's the best I can do at present .

i was about to post those... :)

i'd like someone with a car painted in one of those colour to post a picture so i can adjust the levels of the paint sample page to get an accurate idea of the colour...

because that Astro Grey is 40 years darker than what my car is telling me..

Sports850 those paint charts are GOLD!!!

If the colour your after is there then most automotive paint suppliers will be able to mix up an amount for you by cross referencing the tinters that are listed next to the colour.

Even though paint technology has come a long way nowdays the basic tinters these cars were mixed and painted with are still in refinish systems today. It would be even more ideal if you have a part of your car with clean original paint on it somewhere (inside of a bootlid for example) that you could take with you to your paint shop for them to colourmatch the paint to.
