Hi all,

Question.
Ok, the mini is coming apart nicely, thankyou very much, but need to ask one major question. How do I drain the hydro system without ruining any of the hoses... (in the past it was a sharp point through one of the flexible hoses and stand back... makes a beautiful arc). I want to drain the fluid from the system, and remove the subframes complete with displacer and piping to sell whole to someone who wants to hydro their min.
Also, how much should I put on complete hydro suspension inc subframes. I'm going to put in dry subs at the first available op.

Cheers

C

on the back of the rear subframe, high pressure so careful! A mate once let his down then used a pedal clutch mastercylinder and a hose adaptor to pump it back up!

Have fun

my first mini I converted to dry by putting in dry subframes, the second, I left the wet subframes in there - no need to take them out, if you grind some slots into the donuts they'll locate on the hydro locking tab thingys in the subframes, and hold in place really well. You do need to use dry radius arms though as they're quite different. I used the dry top suspension arms too, but I don't know how necessary that was. I did it on my Cooper S so I could put the hydro back any time I wanted - that and the dry subframes I had were rusted out.

I don't think a set of wet subframes and link pipes is worth a lot - as there are plenty about have been pulled out to be replaced with dry ones - whatever you can get is the right answer

If you leave the wet top arms in front, it stiffens the ride a bit. Old racers trick... :P
Another reason to keep the wet subframe, if the arms are good nick.

thanks guys.. but I figure I'm buying a donor mini when I can find one sub $1k, so I might as well just sell the lot on as a whole and not buggerise another wet subframe setup. Plus as you pointed out Doc, the ride is a bit stiffer and witht he possible 13s, I'm thinking stiffening it up is going to be too hard on my getting old back lol..

I figure even if I get $200 I'd be happy
