So, I am down to bare block.
Was fun, Dad and I stripped it down.

My rings were SHOT!! I pulled out the pistons and the rings fell apart...

Plan is to bore and hone but didnt expect them to be as bad as they were.

Now, to the machine shop we go!

Peter.

Good stuff Peter its always fun stripping an engine down but not always good what you find.
At least you know what you have to do now

What else are you planning in the ways of Mod's..Cam flywheel and the such

Hey Gafmo,

Yeah. I am getting an RE13, bore, hone, lightening the flywheel, rods, cooper head, may work that too.
Going 1100 +? (not sure yet)

Cant wait.

Peter.

Make sure they hot dip both the head and the block - its fairly important to get the water jackets and galleries clean.

Also have them deck the block and skim the head. Nearly all have a warp after this period of time. Mostly you find engine shops will want to do a sub assembly as they don't want to be blamed for an engine failure due to oil shortage at start up or a conrod on the wrong way round. Let them. Then just check all the clearances when you get it home. Especially look for swarth in bearing caps etc.

Graham Russell is doing it...
I'm lightening the flywheel, then Graham will balance the lot.

Sorry Fella's

Been at Grahams a little then with the Mrs (I got in trouble for spending too much time with Zippy) :)

Yes, GR is doing it, and Kev is doing a little something too.
Best left to the experts me thinks :) I can pull it apart but I will let someone who knows more put it together again ... I end up with way too many spares :)

Oh, so excited... cant wait to till its all finished... WooHoo!

Peter.
