Whats the lifespan of the solid brake lines on minis? I've got replacment hoses, and have rebuilt brakes with new whatevers, but what should I do about the other bits? Obviously if it broke while disassembling, is rusty or dented / damaged I will replace, but how hard is it to do the whole lot, or if it looks okay is there still a need to do so while the car is in bits? Thanks. ![]() ![]() |

Short answer No its not necessary unless they are rusty or damaged as you already commented on. This is something that is an issue in Britain where they do rust out brake lines and its a major inspection issue and commented on in British restoration books. Better things spend your money on unless you find a pipe needing replacement. |

I've spent more money on the braking system for my car so far during the build than anywhere else on it! ![]() |

And, DON'T use copper!!! If goes hard, then can fatigue and crack. Might still be road legal in UK, but not here. Just take your old pipes to a brake shop if you can't buy new here. <edit> a new front pipe made cost me $23. New ones they make look like copper, but they are actually copper coated steel. ![]() |
