you know the arm type thing goes from like the subby where the engine is to the wheel

If you are jacking under the front, the best and safest spot is the subframe, next to where the bottom arms you've just described are attached.

Same deal at the back- under the subframe, either side.

Don't jack under the floor... I've seen jacks disappear...

Not as safe as using the subframe, as they are not level- so be careful.

Whatever you do, don't ever jack under the front tie bars.. that (& towing from there) is what bends them!

i know the tie bars are too small but i was just thinking that the control arms would be strong enough but i will use the subby next to it

I just cheat and drive mine along the gutter. I can scrape my chest under the sump. I can get all the way under the car then, and I'm not a small bloke by any means

I have a ning nong of a time trying to jack up my car.

I can't get the trolley jack and a wheel stand under the subframe (approximately underneath the bottom-arm joint) at the same time. It just always ends up being a lame f**k around.

I put a nice crack in my drivers side floor pan using the factory spots a couple months ago.

Happens to floors all the time- tyre places, workshops with cable hoists.. :x

When I go to buy tyres, I use my own jack.. AND wheel brace..

I use a combination of jacks to get the car high enough to use the trolley jack... I think there's no other way with the mini being so low on the front end...

With my hydro setup to get the trolley jack underneath I lift the car up a bit first, then it will sit higher and the jack fits! Same trick works to get the oil tray to fit under when doing an oil change!

Real Mini side jack is OK, if in good condition... just don't crawl under car without stands!

I've got a real original mini jack, it is classic british build quality - you keep turning it and the car doesn't lift up at all :(
