Hey guys, im in the process of making a custom grill for my clubman at the moment and iwant to paint it gold. Now i DONT want the crappy opaque "gold" paint that comes in the spray cans and the non spray pack paint that is similar. What i do want is a clear gold so that you can see the brushed aluminum through it. I had a bmx years agao that had a clear gold paint on the forks that flaked off once it got old and its exactly the look i want (not the flaking off) > does anyone know where i could get it from. I went to 2 arts & crafts shops here in melb and they had nothing or knew what i was talking about. Im thinking maybe hobbie shops (rc cars and models etc) might have something.

thanx trent

p.s. sorry i still havent cracked my avatar....ill chalk it up to laziness

Yeah its a clear base with gold metallic flecks in it.
Most specialist paint shops can help u mix up a can, ready for spraying.

Have a look at the ppc website. The do the POR15 as well as other products. I know they do some gold paints - not sure if it's what you're after?

www.ppc.au.com

Just went there and they don't appear to have any info on the website, but the jar is pictured on the photo. I think the product you want is called colour chrome. Maybe grab a catalogue or ask a panelbeater supplies shop if they carry it.

You beat me to it Kevin. I was going to recommend that mob. They are good to deal with and have a great range of stuff.

I don't know you'll have much luck ringing a panelbeater.

I recommended a Panelbeaters' SUPPLIES shop.

Or ring PPC direct and ask for a dealer/retailer near you. I am 99% sure Colour Chrome is what you are after.
