Ok this question might be a little vague to answer, but I've got some photos to make it clearer. A $%#^@*# &^%$^@! reversed into me one day and did this.

As you can see (or if you can't) the dent in the door is relatively soft, but large. It has affected the outside part of the door, the inside part of the door and has buckled the 'rim/frame' around the top part of the door ever so slightly.

QUESTION: Would it be cheaper to straighten out this door and spray the areas that need to be resprayed (the outside of the door)?

OR... Would it be cheaper to skin another door (would need to spray/skin the ENTIRE door and fix the rust spots etc.)?

And finally... any vague $$$ estimates?

Being a Clubman, get another door in good cond. & respray it.

If it was a hard to get door (i.e. K with those handles, or a sliding windows) then it might be worth fixing. Cost? How lucky are you?

The only luck I've ever had was the fact that the woman reversed her ute into the door, and the door ONLY. The surrounding pillar and body were untouched. Not even the slightest of damage.

That is looking on the bright side :)

If she had hit the B pillar it would be a major PITA to fix. Lucky you!

i am not sure what you mean by skinning another door, wouldnt you reskin your dented door or just replace the dented door with a good door and respray it?

shouldnt be expensive either way, you're damn lucky the stupid woman in the stupid car only hit your door!

That's exactly what happened to me. I feel your pain..... however I had a new door put on and the decal replaced and re sprayed all at the ********'s expense thankfully. A good panel beater/sprayer will be able to fix it all up for you.

Here's another funny thing. My mini isn't insured. I have third party property insurance, of course, but atm my mini isn't insured for damage I inflict to it myself.

Now, normally that wouldn't have been a problem, as it was clearly the other person's fault, I witnessed the accident, I have 3 other people who witnessed the accident... But... The b**ch sped off. RUNNING FROM THE SCENE OF THE CRIME = INSTANT ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF FAULT.

Now... That would have been fine, because (thanks to one of my witnesses) I got the licence plate number down in time before the aforementioned b**ch rounded the corner. I reported it to the police, the licence plate number came back matching the car that hit me... "Sure, no problem, we'll sort it out".

The police visited the owner of the car... But he wasn't driving it at the time. He knew who was, and gave them her address...

They went to the address... only to find that it was a drug rehab centre... and that she was no longer living there, and left without a trace.

So, the police said, unless we pick her up for some other offence, we can't afford to spend more time invesitgating this matter (which I agree, is fair enough). But there you go... Just my luck...

It may not have been the guys fault, but he knows where the woman is obviously as he lent her the car. Pretty simple really. Contact your Insurance Company and tell them what happened, some 3rd policies will follow up on acciedents not your fault and will make sure the Car's owner pays for damage. Just remember, it is the guys car and you are legally entitled to have your car fixed by the owner of the car that did the damage. It is he who has to seek compensation from the woman, not you. Sad to see your car damaged. But, just remember it is just a car and not you that was damaged.

Cheers

Aaron

Aaron, knowing my luck, the owner's insurance company probably wouldn't cover the damage because a different person was droving the car (and I doubt she would have been on the list of insured drivers). Then, it woulf come down to a lawsuit, they probably wouldn't have any money, and would have to pay me $10 a fortnight for the next 4/5 years to pay it off...

However, I will speak to my insurance company though. This happened exactly a year ago now, though.

Do you know where the owner of the car lives?
Because I have an idea!

Bah! a bit of bog and some chicken wire and it'll be fine! :D

Replace it, the last thing you want to do is fix it and find the door doen't close straight,
or its out by 3mm somewhere it'll be a big problem.
Clubby doors are easy enough to get anyway.
Good luck.
:D
