Post subject:  Adjusting the Ai/Fuel Mixture

What is the best way to adjust the Air/Fuel mix in a Carby.

I know of the little screw on the front to adjust the RPM,

I am getting some back fire from what it sounds like inside the carby or the head area.

Hmm i seem to always have small dramas like this.

Your help muchly appreciated

You'll probably get more help and more specific advice if you tell people what carby or carby's you have 8)

Sounds like u need to get ur self a w/shop manual. No point fiddling with the jet adjusting screw if u dont have the faintest idea.... If u know u have the correct needle for ur engine, the best point to start is to wind the jet adjusting nut all the way up (full lean) then back it off about 12-15 flats (rich). Then go from there, if u dont have the correct needle in the carb then ur probably wasting ur time and possibly doing damage to ur engine.

Get a book, have a read then fiddle. Its the only way to learn. But u need to know wats going on 1st b4 u start playing around.

Do what i Do, take it to someone that know how to adjust it. I know my limits and can kinda get it in the ball park, but, Someone that knows there stff will have it running right. Call mini spares, Padstow, or castle hill, Or mini classic or PM John Centrone down in balmain. Best thing to do. They may even let you watch and explain it to you as they go.

Cheers
Aaron
