Post subject:  Performing REVS checks

I just wish to get a confirmation from fellow members about the vehicle identifiers

Is the VIN number stamped on the firewall in the engine bay of Morris Mini's?

My mini has a 3 digit VIN number, the car I am looking at has a 4 digit VIN, it has also had a engine enchange and is also unregistered, I ran the numbers the owner gave me and ran it on the REVS site, this is the result

THERE ARE FINANCIAL INTERESTS RECORDED AGAINST THE SUPPLIED VEHICLE
IDENTIFIERS
THIS VEHICLE IS UNDER POLICE INVESTIGATION
THE VEHICLE DETAILS COULD NOT BE VALIDATED AGAINST THE RTA DATABASE AS THE RTA
LINK RETURNED A SYSTEM ERROR.

Give the fuzz a call and ask them what there records show.

Sounds dodgy to me, and it may be the engine no. is the problem, or it may be the VIN.

Good luck and let us know how you go!

Matt

Just called REVS the finance and police records were concerned with a Box Trailor that was stolen from SA and the Fianance is concerned with a tractor and something else that's not a mini in QLD. So all sweet.

Nothing dodgy about it actually. The REVS system is flawed unfortunalty, well the online system is anyway. You will always have the above respomce on a car deemed as unregistered.... What you need to do is call REVS and speak to an operator, which is a hrd task enough to perform as they send you thru a voice recognition service that of course doesn't work. Once you get thru to the operator you will get the info your looking for. You can then go further and call the RTA to see if the car was last registered with the new engine or not. Of course you may have access to old rego papers which in my case i didn't have.
