Post subject:  looks like its stuffed.....

well sooner then i expected i think my 1100 has finally chucked it in....
i have known the rings have been pretty shot when i got the car.......

it blew a hell of a lot of smoke when i started it at school to come home this arvo and just continually f....d up the whole way home..... had s...t all power and was continually jerking because it was missing.....

pulled out a spark plug and looked inside onto the piston and can see a chunk of metal ontop of the piston on the far side right against the bore.........

so......

have been looking into the step of a rebuild or exchange now....

i have only recently had the head fully recoed and put on unleaded..... so i will keep that... and just get a short block exchange....... or get it rebuilt minus the head....

i will also add some extractors while its out.....

so....

how the hell do i get the engine out..... a} just the engine
b} engine and sub frame to make it easier?

i have a large metal beam in the garage i can use to put the chain and pulley....?

any comments..... help...... suggestions wanted

a full coverage of the rebuild will be posted later anyway....

cheers

Take the bonnet off, take ur driveshafts out, undo all the other crap n pull the motor out from the top. Hire an engine crane if u can, it makes the job so so easy!!!!!

I wish you had answered all my questions.
I have a soft spot for students especially those coming up to major cross roads like the HSC. I know how it feels when your whole world comes crashing down like when an engine fails and you are looking at time and money you dont have.

I was going to suggest that I have a few engines here that would get you out of trouble. They are second hand but were working when they came out of their cars. Beyond that there are no warranties but any one of them should be a driveable motor.

I am offering you the motor - its free - its a block with crank, pistons etc, no head but never been pulled apart. I am also hoping that some one closer to you will help you change over the engines onto the gearbox and get you back on the road to your next steps. Metal cross beams are okay but hydraulic engine lifters and a bit of experience goes just like Pecks Paste - ask your grandfather about that one.

Anyway, this way you are up for about $50 in gaskets, some time and then get back to whats important. That is the HSC

pm me for my telephone number if you are in NSW

Anyone else willing to help a kid out ??????????????????????

I wore a T-shirt all day today even on the quad bike running down a wether that was in the wrong paddock.

Oklay - Newcastle I can cope with - Gulgong is two hours due east. I can throw a motor onto a truck and its there. Dont stuff around with it - just bolt it up and drive it. Its a warts and all motor but it should run fine.

Okay now we know its Newcastle - who is there that can do a motor change simply because you know how to and because you can ???????????
