Finally , my new DVD copy of goodbye pork pie has arrived after pre-ordering it through ezydvd , 2 disc remastered DVD with 150 minutes (what can they add for 150 minutes ?????) of extra stuff . My old , stretched and "snowing" VHS copy can now finally be retired .

What does 'Pork Pie' refer to anyway?

Not 100% sure but one of the characters (Gerry Austin , who acquires a womans wallet and then hires the mini under the name Leslie Morris .... do you think they were being obvious with the names ????) starts off wearing a yellow T-shirt with Pork Pie written on it . Later , when he get's thrown off the top of the butchered mini aftere being bumped by the police car in a chase , the other guy in the mini whispers "goodbye pork pie" to him when he's partially playing possum on the road to block the police car . The mini also had Pork Pie roughly stencilled onto the side of it for some reason .

Had a preview of it a bit earlier , much better quality than the video copy , looking forward to the full viewing later . Getting enthused to do the replica of the mini at the end now , anyone got a dead clubby without doors/boot/bonnet/guards/interior that they don't want around here ?????? I can modify the door openings to look like an English shell without the cost of a Rover shell ....

Wasn't this a reference to the ex-PM of NZ, Robert Muldoon, AKA Piggy Muldoon?

Image

Edit - "After viewing the film, even Prime Minister Robert Muldoon rubbished claims that it was encouraging New Zealand youth into a life of petty crime. “It was too obviously light-hearted and a fairy story,” was his response, perhaps relishing the common belief that the film’s title referred to his political nickname ‘Piggy’ Muldoon."

i think to keep it most original you'll have to use the same kind of mini in the film, not a clubby.

But it has clubby tail lights etc ...... I'll see if I can find anything closer Anton and with a roof , but it's definitely the right price .

you should ask watto waht pork ie means cos him and i sat down with nigel shepard the producer of the movie and asked him what it meant and it has nothing to do with cockney ryming slang it was around the time when 'meat balls movies' were out in the us and thought that pork pie would be a good name to use in the same lines as meat balls.

ALso got to meet the stunt driver for the movie who drove the mini around pete zichovich (how ever you spell it) i also know where one of the original cars is, im just waiting on the ok from nigel to go and have a photo shoot with it.

still a good movie i gave my old copy to my mate form south afirca when he was here, so ill have to go buy the new extra long version for myself now, (methods in my madness)
