Have put in an engine i pick up recently into my 72 clubman. Tried to get it started and smoke comming from the accelerator cable!! :oops:

Anyways, have figured it out, engine has a generator on it and not an alternator like i need. So the big question is, 72 clubman, what is the correct type of alternator and does anyone have a used one they want to get rid of??

smoke from accelerator cable = someone forgot to put the earthing strap back on the engine :wink:

You will need to buy a a lucas 15acr or equiv, there are a couple of guys on here that should be able to help you out oor just keep an eye on fleabay
