Don't forget, there is also the 12G1316 head- same thing basically but has 4 air injection ports near the spark plugs.
They were used on 1275LS and 1275 Moke.

They have the same valves, chambers and ports as a Morris 1100S- just plug the 4 air holes in front with 7/16" UNF grubscrews.

Generally these heads bring less money than a 940, but they are just as good for power or porting out. They drill out OK for 11 head studs too.

Put MK2 S inlets (35.6mm) in there like I did, and get to it... 8)

hmm... i was thinking about sticking it on a 998

what would the comparative cost be between a 940 head and cutting the reliefs in the block and just plonking a 12G295 on it?

I think a 940 or 1316 head would work out cheaper, even with the block's relief work. That doesn't take long to do. Would breathe better too.
295 heads are starting to bring silly money.
