Is everyone aware of this group? "A non-profit association of some hundreds of former employees and interested persons whose mission is to preserve the heritage of BMC - Leyland Australia and its associated companies as a significant part of Australia's automotive manufacturing History. I have sent an email to the president with a view of getting some of the Mini/Moke folk to participate in AUSMINI!! |

Hey what a great idea - how better to collect info together than by answering specific questions beats trying to "remember everything" and writing it down in order. |

I have a CD ROM that I think they produced. It has pictures and stories from that era. It's a very interesting collection of history! I have a few snaps on my website, if anyone is interested. |

Post subject: | email from Mr Anderson |
Barry Anderson responded to my email as follows: Mick, Many thanks for your email and your comments. Roger Foy is our contact with the car clubs as we made the decision a few years ago to have a car club liaison officer to spread interest in our work. I will pass your email to him. He is looking at ways for us to mutually support each other. While we have encouraged the car club involvement in our activities, - we donated a trophy to the All British Day Committee this year - we have, as our mission, the preservation of the heritage of the Zetland plant and its associated companies. By focussing on this we have collected a wide range of memorabilia and are now pressing on with some sort of book on the subject. We are careful not intrude on the subject matter of Hal Maloney or others who have and are writing about the products. Nevertheless, we feel we can offer something to the car clubs by giving your members an insight into the factory and the people who made the products that you are lovingly preserving. In return we get a great kick out of seeing the cars we built being displayed at various gatherings. I will certainly check the website you mention. As far as the National Library is concerned, we have been "commanded" (and that was the term in their letter to us) by them to provide them with a copy of each of our newsletters. They are now on our distribution list and we are very pleased with their interest. Best wishes, Barry |
